Susan Guagliumi has a brief article about reading Studio Japanese Knitting magazines.
This book is accurate and includes many languages, but we definitely think you could get the same info or more on the internet for lots less money! GooseRating: 5 of 10 happy honks.
Our review of one of the Japanese Stitch pattern books - unfortunately, we don't really know the title because it's in Kanji. Most English speakers refer to it as "500" GooseRating - 9 happy honks if you like cable patterns, 6 happy honks if you're primarily a lace knitter.
There are TWO books that look very similar, both with the number 250 on it. This one is the one with purple text and was edited by M Hirose. This book actually contains approx 127 crochet patterns and approx 123 knitting patterns. Note: The title of the book is in poor English...it should have been Knitting Patterns not Pattrens. A small Japanese booklet about basic knitting instructions, written in English with the clear illustrations that the Japanese are famous for. GooseRating: 7 of 10 happy honks
Wow, what a refreshing article showing translations of not just knitting/crochet terms, but the names of the tools (ie crochet hook, knitting needles) and cute phrases so that you can participate in a knitting meeting (such as "Oh my, I've dropped a stitch" or "Did you knit that yourself?")
